Marine Family

James Bacarro
Vice President & Co-founder
Jim, our vice president and co-founder of West Shore Marine, is no stranger to the boating world. Since the young age of 14 Jim has been building his resume. Starting as a young dockhand and mechanics helper, Jim worked his way up becoming a Certified Master Technician with Mercury/MerCruiser and now one of West Shores truest gems. Not only focusing on marine life, Jim has vast business experience. He built an online parts store which modifies and builds diesel trucks, as well as a start up gym, a boat rental company, ASPM- a property management company and branded South Shore Pontoons. Jim has been servicing boats for the last 35 years and doesn’t shy away from taking on work that others may shy away from, anything from fiberglass, full motor rebuilds and complete interior upgrades. We have found there is not much Jim can’t do and anything he sets his mind to he can and will accomplish. He is excellent in customer relations and a true man of many talents. He truly is the glue that holds us all together.
Michael Costello
President & Co-founder
Our president and Co-founder of West Shore Marine, lives and breathes boat life- the truest tycoon of the marine mechanical and boating world. In 2000, he attended Pennco Tech, graduating with high honors making the honor roll and dean’s list every semester, where he earned his first certification in Marine Mechanics. He is not only a member of the American Boat and Yacht council, he is also credentialled. There he studied electrical systems which authorizes him to officially inspect every boat, making sure it meets the required safety standards for safe boat repair and construction. In 2005 Michael took a post graduate class online pursuing his yamaha outboard certification. From 2006-2008 he trained at the INMAR Factory where he was personally trained and certified. Chris Abella
Mechanic, Welder & Fabricator
Chris has over 25 years of experience as a mechanic, welder, and fabricator, dedicating his career to mastering a diverse range of skills. From being an expert in trailers, boats, and RVs to gaining five years of boat mechanic experience, he’s built a solid foundation of technical knowledge that we feel privileged to have on our team. In addition to his mechanical skillset, he has a background as a retired EMT/Firefighter with specialized training in hazmat, swift water, and ice rescue. He earned the title of eagle scout in his younger years and also had the honor of serving as a 9/11 rescue worker which instilled a lifelong commitment to service and leadership. When Chris isn’t working, you’ll likely find him flying drones, riding his Harley, or diving into all things cars. His experience also extends to the snow industry, where he has worked in various roles, from laborer to supervisor, always prioritizing safety and professionalism. All who meet Chris can quickly tell that at the heart of his work is a dedication to going above and beyond for our customers, ensuring their experience is nothing short of excellent. Whether he is tackling a complicated and complex fabrication job, a trailer that needs some love or providing expert maintenance, he takes pride in delivering quality results.
Nicholas Quin
Engine Technician
Nick is our engine technician. Currently finishing up his last year of high school before he heads off to Marine mechanic school. Nicholas has been working on all things motors since he was little. Working on and rebuilding cars with his grandfather is where he got his start. His skill set resembles that of a puzzle master, as he can intuitively navigate through challenges, putting all the right pieces in place without relying on instructions. This talent for understanding how things work and figuring out solutions on the fly is an incredible asset in the boating world. We are thrilled and excited to see the incredible knowledge Nicholas can continue to add to our team throughout his time at Mechanic school..
Barbara Filipow
Manager
We are very fortunate to have Barbara on our team. Bringing to us 40+ years of experience in administrative work, customer relations and accounts payable/receivables as a manager of a florist in East Hanover, before the business was closed after a successful 94 years in business. For the 40+ years she worked there, she worked the days before (sometimes during) and after all major holidays and she is very excited to work at a place where she can finally enjoy those same holidays and replace it with a gorgeous view of the lake we all love. You can catch her hanging with any of her kids or 10 grandchildren in her spare time and you can always win her over with a conversation about Disney world. She fits right in with our crew keeping us all fed with delicious baked goods any chance she can get and helps keep us all in line.
Mike Beyroutey
Mechanic
Mike joined the West Shore family right when we opened in October of 2024. With 20 years of experience in construction—tackling everything from grading the land to perfecting interior finishes—this hands-on pro is as versatile as they come. When not shaping spaces, he’s building trucks for fun, diving under the hood to master any motor with precision and detail. A former diesel mechanic turned watercraft wizard, he is now bringing his expertise to boats and jet skis. Mike’s ability to think outside of the box to get tricky jobs done is something we feel very fortunate to add to our team.
Stacey Baccaro
Office Manager
Stacey is the office manager and wife of Jim, with 15 years of experience in management and customer service. She started her career in a cupcake shop, where she helped lead the team to victory on Cupcake Wars. Later, she worked in the dental field, handling tasks like insurance verification, assisting doctors, and accounts receivable. After taking time off in 2022 to grow her family, she is excited to return to work. Known for her love of snacks, terrible dad jokes, and strong team spirit, Stacey brings a fun and supportive energy to the workplace.
